Caught Reading: Dave Barry's Money Secrets
In these tough economic times, a laugh is always welcome and there no one better at poking a finger in the eye of modern life than Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and humorist Dave Barry. Barry has several money saving tips such as encouraging sloth and laziness on the part of your children so you can avoid paying the high cost of an Ivy League education. Barry also outlines using time travel to get a leg up on the stock market and the benefits of cheating the IRS. Not all of his jokes are knee-slappers, but he keeps the mood light and hits the mark more often than not.

Caught Reading: Mammoth by John Varley
Howard Christian, multi-billionaire is bored and looking for a new project. Huge office towers and classic cars from his personal collection are just not doing it any longer. Why not put together a top notch team of scientists and have them clone a mammoth? This is the premise of Varley's novel which cobbles together time-travel, adventure and even a bit of spirituality into a fascinating whole. The scene where the time-traveling mammoth does battle with a Los Angeles city bus is not to be missed! (Location: SF Varley)
