Become a Literacy Tutor at the Library

Make a difference in someone’s life, become a literacy tutor by attending our ESL Tutor Workshop at the Central Branch of the Old Bridge Public Library. Help adult Old Bridge residents in need of learning English as a Second Language. This four-part workshop will be held 7-9pm on Tuesdays beginning June 23rd. The Old Bridge Library is pleased to welcome special guest, Bee Haydu, former test and utility pilot of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II! Ms. Haydu will present a dynamic program on her life experiences at the central branch of the Old Bridge Library on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Ms. Haydu was one of a select group of young women pilots who became pioneers, heroes and role models. This group of women, the WASP, were the first women in history trained to fly American military aircraft.

Join us for the next First Friday Event on June 5th at 6:30 p.m. featuring the Soorya Indian Dancers. Come see Classical and modern Indian dancing group from Woodbridge, NJ. Soorya Dance Company will perform Kathak and Bharathanatyam styles of dance. Carnatic music accompanies the dance movements.

Lynn Nuller Gaiser, RD, Lindy Judd, LCSW/LCADC and Carol Oberle, LSCW, will present the non-diet approach to weight management and healthy living. Get to the bottom of what’s not working for you and why. Learn to trust your body’s signals for hunger and fullness. This program is FREE and open to the public. This weekend, the Library will be hosting two exciting free musical programs:

On Saturday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. we have duo guitarists Joseph Frame and Michael Kucsak will present a diverse program of musical conversations drawing from the classical repertoire, jazz guitar, and unique arrangements of popular songs at the Old Bridge Public Library.

Then on Sunday, May 17 at 1:30 p.m., Catherine Sprague will present a free program on composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart called "Mozart Masterpieces" at the Old Bridge Public Library. Featuring historical slides with music and video clips which show musicians performing selections from various works, Sprague will discuss the life and music of this famous and influential composer.
