Old Bridge Library's New Movie Club
The Old Bridge Public Library will launch a film program, The Critics' Choice Film Series. Selecting the films for this series is Mark Leeper, who is also active in the library's mathematics free tutoring program. Mark is one of the Internet's longest running film critics and has a list of very good but little-known films. The series intends to feature films about people, about personality and character, and about human drama. On October 4 (the 55th anniversary of the launching of Sputnik) at 6:30 p.m. the featured film will be October Sky, the true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner's son who was inspired by the Sputnik launch to take up model rocketry against his father's wishes. All Library programs are free and open to the public; for more information, please call (732) 721-5600 ext. 5033.
