The 2006 New Jersey Library Association Conference was held at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, NJ from April 24-26 and several of the Library's staff members were deeply involved in its success. Assistant Director Allan Kleiman presented three programs in addition to serving on the Association's Conference Committee. Teen Librarian Theresa Wordleman was deeply involved in the activities of the Young adult section, and Children's Librarian Juley Rodgowin served as a member of the Garden State Book Awards committee.

Caught reading - Prodigy by David Kalstein

In 2036, the prestigious students (or "specimens" as they are called) of the Stansbury Academy prepare themselves for entry into the finest colleges in the nation - after all, they attend a prep school that discovered the AIDS vaccine, cured cancer and has produced leaders of industry and government. That is, until alumni are found dead under mysterious circumstances and the deaths are pinned on an underachieving student that doesn't buy into the hype. The super straight-arrow valedictorian must team up with the ne'er do well to solve the mystery. This debut novel starts slow but builds to a crackling conclusion - dystopian fiction at its finest.
