Howard Christian, multi-billionaire is bored and looking for a new project. Huge office towers and classic cars from his personal collection are just not doing it any longer. Why not put together a top notch team of scientists and have them clone a mammoth? This is the premise of Varley'’s novel which cobbles together time-travel, adventure and even a bit of spirituality into a fascinating whole.
