Old Bridge Library - Diabetes program

Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. The Epidemic of Our Time: How to Prevent, Control, or Eliminate Type II Diabetes & Metabolic Syndrome. Whether you are newly diagnosed with diabetes, have had it for years or are trying to prevent it, this workshop is for you. Pre-diabetes is a condition in which individuals have blood sugar (A1C) levels higher than normal but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. Studies have shown that people with pre-diabetes who lose weight & increase their physical activity can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and in some cases return their blood glucose levels to normal. Library provides free math tutoring: The Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, offers free math tutoring to students in grades 6 and up 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Old Bridge Library - The Palace of Versailles and Its Music

On Sunday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Old Bridge Public Library, Music historian Catherine Sprague will present a program that covers the history of The Palace of Versailles and the music that was composed and performed there for over 150 years. The presentation will feature clips from a documentary about Louis XIV, samples of music used during his reign, historical musical instruments of the period, and a virtual tour of the Royal Chapel of Versailles. Old Bridge Library - Critics' Choice Film Series

Old Bridge Library's New Movie Club

The Old Bridge Public Library will launch a film program, The Critics' Choice Film Series. Selecting the films for this series is Mark Leeper, who is also active in the library's mathematics free tutoring program. Mark is one of the Internet's longest running film critics and has a list of very good but little-known films. The series intends to feature films about people, about personality and character, and about human drama. On October 4 (the 55th anniversary of the launching of Sputnik) at 6:30 p.m. the featured film will be October Sky, the true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner's son who was inspired by the Sputnik launch to take up model rocketry against his father's wishes. Old Bridge Library - New Video Game Collection

The Old Bridge Public Library is launching its video game collection, expanding the Library’s entertainment offerings along with its music and movie collections. The video games will be housed with the video game guides in their location, to the right of the Circulation Desk. What should you know? Video games will have seven day check outs, with a charge of one dollar per game. Video games with a red call number are rated “M for Mature” and cannot be checked by children. Red labeled video games can only be checked out only by teen or adult cards. Hot new titles to be added to the library’s collection shortly include Assassins’ Creed III, Borderlands II, Call of Duty: Black Opps II; Halo 4 and Need For Speed: Most Wanted.
