Caught Reading

Thud! by Terry Pratchett

The 34th (!) installment in Pratchett's long-running fantasy series finds us back in the city of Ankh-Morpork following the crusty and uncorruptable leader of the City Watch, Sam Vimes, as he and the rest of the crew try to catch the killer who is dispatching radical dwarves before the tensions escalate into an all-out war between dwarves and trolls.

That's not all, Vimes is ordered to enroll the Watch's first vampire constable, much to the dismay of the other coppers and the Watch is being reviewed by a paper pushing civil servant. The dry humor that makes this series such a joy continues to be fresh and witty and keeps things moving at a brisk pace.
