Caught Reading - Drive by James Sallis

Sallis is one of the premier writers of noir fiction, and this is one of his finest achievements. The anonymous Driver is a stunt driver for films by day and a getway driver at night, until the double-cross goes down and he is left (literally) holding the bag. With nowhere to turn and no one to trust, Driver has to track down the ringleaders and take revenge. While this is not for the faint of heart, fans of hard-boiled crime fiction will adore this stripped to the bone masterpiece.
